The Gynecology Department of Queens Medical College is affiliated with two hospitals, Ihsan Mumtaz Teaching Hospital and Bhatti International Hospital, stands as a beacon of excellence in women's healthcare and medical education, led by our esteemed Head of Department, Dr. Kokab Zia. The department is supported by a team of three highly experienced professors, two associate professors, one assistant professor, two senior registrars, and four Senior Medical Officers (SMOs). Our 36 bedded BITH and 33 bedded IMTH hospitals provide a comprehensive range of outpatient (OPD) and inpatient services, operating seven days a week and 24 hours a day. The department is committed to ensuring the highest standards of care through a dedicated and compassionate team, always ready to serve patients with professionalism and empathy. With a strong focus on academic excellence, we passionately educate and mentor 100 undergraduate students, preparing them to excel in the field of gynecology and obstetrics.
Objectives of the Department
The Gynecology and Obstetrics Department at Queens Medical College affiliated with Ihsan Mumtaz Medical Hospital and Bhatti International Teaching Hospital is committed to providing comprehensive and high-quality healthcare services for women. Our department offers a complete range of obstetric and gynecological care, including routine check-ups, high-risk pregnancy management, advanced surgical procedures, and infertility treatments, ensuring patient-centered care at all levels. In line with our academic mission, we aim to provide a dynamic learning environment for undergraduate medical students through supervised clinical training, hands-on experience, and structured educational programs; we strive to develop skilled, compassionate, and ethical healthcare professionals. Provision of Facilities
1. General Gynaecological Care:
Diagnosis and treatment of menstrual disorders (irregular periods, heavy bleeding, dysmenorrhea).
Management of pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, fibroids, and PCOS.
Treatment of gynaecological infections.
2. Preventive Care:
Pap smear screening for cervical abnormalities.Family planning and contraceptive services. (Counselling & provision of methods like oral contraceptives, IUCD insertion & Emergency contraception)
3. Antenatal and Postnatal Services:
Routine antenatal checkups.Postnatal care, including monitoring maternal recovery and newborn wellness.
4. Subfertility Services:
Initial evaluation of subfertility, including hormonal assessments, ultrasound, and semen analysis referral.
Ovulation induction using oral and injectable medications under monitoring.
5. Cancer Screening:
Screening for early detection of cervical and breast cancer.Indoor Services (IPD):
1. Antenatal and Postnatal Care:
Management of high-risk pregnancies and pregnancy-related complications.Comprehensive postnatal care, including treatment of complications.
2. Surgical Care:
Gynaecological surgeries, including hysterectomy, ovarian cystectomy, and myomectomy.Minimally invasive procedures like diagnostic hysteroscopy and laparoscopy.
Management of uterine prolapse and pelvic floor disorders.
3. Emergency Gynaecology and Obstetrics:
Management of emergencies, such as ruptured ectopic pregnancy, eclampsia, and PPH.4. Inpatient Management:
Care for hospitalized patients with gynaecological or obstetric complications.Postoperative monitoring and rehabilitation.
