Pathology Department
Pathology is the bridge between science and medicine. It underpins every aspect of patient care, from
diagnostic testing and treatment advice to using cutting-edge genetic technologies and preventing
disease.
Pathology is the study of mechanisms of disease such as infections, neoplasm and cancers, and inherited
abnormalities of anatomy and functions of body. Being an integrative discipline, it covers the study at
multiple levels such as molecular, genetic and individual cells.
Pathological studies focus on understanding how and why diseases develop, what happens to our bodies
when we are ill and what are signs, symptoms and complications of specific diseases. The ultimate
objective is to develop ways and means to improve management of these diseases in the clinical setting
so as to enable treating physicians to deliver best possible healthcare to the patients.
The mission of Pathology department at Queens Medical college, Kasur is to excel in teaching and
academic activities, to impart high standards of ethical values to students, in-training physicians and staff,
related to professional conduct and research.
The multi-disciplinary fold of pathology department encompasses teaching the students from Queens
Medical college, Kasur and provides clinical services to Ihsan Mumtaz Hospital/Bhatti international
teaching hospital, Kasur.
In addition, the department adheres to the concept of “patient first” and organizes medical and
laboratory services in a patient centered manner.
The diverse faculty specializes in diverse subspecialties of pathology, and focuses on teaching
undergraduate students from 1st year to 4th year MBBS in pathology and physicians in-training from clinical
services. Students will be encouraged to be involved in departmental research work, when possible.
The teaching and academic activities are primarily carried at Queens Medical college, Kasur, which also
houses a gross pathology museum, pathology student laboratories, and a medical library equipped with
state-of-the-art information technology system, all of which support educational activities of the students.
A state-of-the-art pathology laboratory and blood bank located at Ihsan Mumtaz Hospital, Lahore is a
remarkable achievement, providing accurate and timely diagnoses, as well as safe and reliable end results.
We have 4 laborites for students at Queen Medical College Kasur equipped with modern technology
including multimedia, multihead microscope, binocular microscopes for students and staining facility.
There are offices for professors, associates, Assistant Professor and demonstrator.

The pathology hospital laboratories are located at Ihsan Mumtaz Hospital, Lahore recently renovated and contain Histopathology, Chemical Pathology, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Biology sections
