Institutional Review Committee
- Develop and implement policies to promote research activities in alignment with institutional and regulatory guidelines.
- Review and recommend research proposals for funding and institutional support.
- Facilitate training workshops, seminars, and mentorship programs to enhance research skills among faculty and students.
- Promote research in students, by involving them in the research Projects and ensure that 100 hours are taught to the students during the MBBS tenure.
- Monitor the progress and outcomes of ongoing research projects.
- Promote interdisciplinary and collaborative research initiatives within and outside the institution.
- Ensure adherence to ethical guidelines and regulatory compliance in all research activities.
- Maintain a repository of published research, ongoing projects, and grant applications.
- Submit periodic reports to the Academic Council or relevant authority on research activities and outcomes.
Tenure
The tenure of the committee shall be three years from the date of this notification, subject to review and renewal by the competent authority.
Meeting Schedule
The committee will meet [frequency, e.g., quarterly] or as required to review proposals, monitor progress, and address research-related issues.
Ethical Review Committee
The Ethical Review Committee is one of the standing Committees of Queens Medical College, Kasur, it reports to Institutional Research Committee and ultimately responsible to Academic Council. It shall abide by the ordinances and bye-laws of the College.
Purpose:
To promote and ensure safe and ethical practices in research and patient management at the Institution.
Following are key responsibilities of the IRB ethics committee:
- Review research applications and data request forms from Queens Medical College and its affiliate hospitals, namely Ihsan Mumtaz Hospital, Lahore and Bhatti Hospital, Kasur.
- Ensure that research should be done according to guiding principles
- Principle of respect for autonomy
- Non-maleficence
- Beneficence
- Justice
- Ensure the completeness of application documents for ethical review.
- Distribute protocols to all ethics committee members and/or external reviewers, as applicable
- Facilitate and attend regular meetings on research ethics related issues in consultation with the Chairperson of the IRB ethics committee.
- Communicate decisions of the IRB to the applying institution with a copy to the Principal Office.
- Archive all research project-related protocols, correspondence, decisions and minutes of the IRB
- Receive periodic progress reports from investigators including updates on the design and conduct of research undertaken.
- Organize, support, and facilitate the conduct of research ethics training at Institutional level.
- At least 3 members should be present to complete the quorum.
Scientific Review Committee
The Scientific Committee is one of the standing Committees of Queens Medical College, Kasur, it reports to Institutional Research Committee and ultimately responsible to Academic Council. it shall abide by the ordinances and bye-laws of the College.
Purpose:
To promote science and research in the Institution and to actively promote excellence in patient care though evidence-based medicine and the translation of research into innovation in clinical practice.
Following are key responsibilities of the IRB ethics committee:
- To promote scientific research and innovation in Queens Medical College, Kasur and its affiliated Institutions, namely. Ihsan Mumtaz Hospital, Lahore and Bhatti Hospital, Kasur.
- To support educational and academic meetings including Seminars and Annual College Conference, managing venue, scientific content, subject, speakers, abstract slelection for free papers and poster presentations.
- Determining the requirements for clinical guidelines and tasking sub-committees to develop guidelines before dissemination and publication.
- To translate evidence based medicine into clinical practice at the affiliated Institutions.
- To support scientific publications and managing the College Journal
- To promote links with other academic stakeholders such as other medical institutions, industry and funding bodies
Research Management Committee
Purpose:
The Research Management Committee (RMC) is established to oversee, facilitate, and promote research activities within the medical college, ensuring alignment with institutional objectives and PMDC requirements.
Objectives
- To develop and implement policies for fostering research culture.
- To ensure ethical compliance and quality in all research activities.
- To provide guidance and support for faculty, student, and staff research initiatives.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Strategic Oversight
- Develop the college's research strategy and annual plans
- Align research objectives with institutional and PMDC guidelines.
- Research Policy Development
- Formulate and periodically review research policies, including ethics, funding, and intellectual property.
- Ensure compliance with national Terms of Reference (TORS) for the Research Management Committee (RMC)
